High Herstory creates space for women & femmes who love weed while bringing to life meaningful, stigma-changing content at the intersection of cannabis and culture.

As best friends, who met as college theatre majors in small town Texas, we have utilized cannabis throughout every step of our journey. From aiding in a good old fashioned belly laugh and helping us find courage to be present throughout the challenges faced in our lives as artists and entrepreneurs living in New York City.

However, we are talking about a plant that has been historically stigmatized and vilified — maybe no place more so than in our home state. We also saw this reflected in the media and pop-culture. Even as we write this in 2024, the portrayal of cannabis consumers are usually associated with stereotypes of laziness, addiction and ineptitude. Considering the hyper-intelligent, generous, driven and talented (we could go on) women in our own lives who use cannabis as a tool to take control of their own happiness, we know this isn’t true.

So, armed with the statistic that women’s history makes up only .5% of the historical dialogue (!) and wanting to make content that reflected cannabis consumers as we knew them; we launched High Herstory and co-created the High Herstory series, available to stream on Amazon.

Our Story

“High Herstory has cemented its reputation as the brand for driven, informed women who use cannabis.”

In case you were wondering…

Why Herstory?

According to historian Bettany Hughes, women’s history makes up only .5% of the historical dialogue. Herstory is just history from a female-perspective and we promise, it won’t bite you. When we say women, we want to be clear that we mean all female-identifying individuals.

Do you hate men?

No. Our goal is to create space for women in a historically male dominated world, not hate on men. In fact, one of our production company’s co-founder identifies as male and is a valued voice on our team. Since gender is a societal construct anyway and the simplistic notion that are only two genders (research in neurology, endocrinology, and cellular biology all points to a broader biological basis for an individual’s experience of gender) let’s all just be kind and listen to other’s perspectives.

So, you copied Drunk History?

No, bish. We reclaimed the narrative.

At High Herstory, we stand by…

Ending the War on Drugs

We believe that cannabis justice is racial justice. See our list of resources for how you can get involved in supporting cannabis decriminalization and purchasing from brands who do too.

Cannabis Education

The best way to de-stigmatize cannabis is to learn about it. We believe that knowledge and scientific research can help dismantle antiquated notions around plant medicine.

Inclusivity + Intersectional Feminism

We strive to hire underrepresented voices in cannabis and media and create an equitable environment on all our film sets. We approach each department with a mind towards inclusivity, from our hair/make-up practices, the food we serve, to our hiring practices. We are proud members of the Floret Coalition.

Mental Health Awareness

Self care is more than pampering yourself. High Herstory stands for discussing issues that impact women’s mental health and helping to support one another.
