By embracing cannabis culture, they encourage a more nuanced understanding of fatherhood—one that recognizes individual choices, emphasizes education, and fosters an environment of acceptance.

Weed Terminology 101: Strains, Weight Measurements, and More Cannabis Terms and Definitions
If you're new to the world of cannabis, whether you're planning on visiting a dispensary for the first time, or you just want to learn more about the plant, it can be overwhelming to navigate all the different terms and jargon used to describe the products. Here is a guide to some basic cannabis terminology.
If you're new to the world of cannabis, whether you're planning on visiting a dispensary for the first time, or you just want to learn more about the plant, it can be overwhelming to navigate all the different terms and jargon used to describe the products. Here is a guide to some of the basic cannabis terminology:
Why Do They Call it Cannabis?
The word "cannabis" is the scientific name for the plant species that includes both marijuana and hemp. The name "cannabis" comes from the Latin word "cannabis" which is thought to have originated from the Greek word "kánnabis", which referred to the hemp plant. The word was then adopted by Linnaeus, the father of modern taxonomy when he was naming the species in 1753. The use of the word "cannabis" to refer to marijuana is thought to have originated in the early 20th century as a way to distinguish the psychoactive form of the plant from the non-psychoactive form (hemp).
Where Did the Term Weed Come From?
The term "weed" as slang for cannabis is thought to have originated in the early 20th century as a way to refer to marijuana in a discreet manner. Since the use and possession of marijuana was illegal during that time, people used the term "weed" as a way to talk about the drug without drawing attention to themselves. The term "weed" was also used because marijuana can grow wild and be found in many different locations, much like a common weed. Additionally, the term "weed" might have been used to describe marijuana due to the negative connotation that the word has, which could have been used to stigmatize marijuana usage and users.
What is a Cannabinoid?
A cannabinoid is a chemical compound that acts on the body's cannabinoid receptors. These receptors are found in the brain and throughout the body, and play a role in regulating various physiological processes such as pain, mood, appetite, and memory.
The cannabis plant contains over 100 different cannabinoids, with the two most well-known being tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD).
THC is the primary psychoactive compound in marijuana and is responsible for the drug's characteristic "high." It acts on the CB1 receptors in the brain and can cause changes in perception, mood, and cognitive function.
CBD, on the other hand, is non-psychoactive and has been found to have a range of potential therapeutic benefits, such as reducing anxiety, pain, and inflammation. CBD acts on both CB1 and CB2 receptors and can modulate the effects of THC.
Other cannabinoids found in cannabis include cannabigerol (CBG), cannabichromene (CBC), and tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV). Each of these compounds have their own unique properties and effects that are being studied for their therapeutic potential.
What is THC?
THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is a psychoactive compound (yes, a cannabinoid!) found in cannabis that is responsible for the "high" feeling. It is the most well-known cannabinoid and it is present in varying amounts in different strains.
What is CBD?
CBD (Cannabidiol), also a cannabinoid, a non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis that can help to counteract some of the negative effects of THC, it is known for its medicinal properties.
What is Sativa?
A subspecies of the cannabis plant that is known for its uplifting and energizing effects. Sativa strains typically have higher levels of THC and lower levels of CBD.
What is Indica?
Indica: A subspecies of the cannabis plant that is known for its relaxing and sedating effects. Indica strains typically have higher levels of CBD and lower levels of THC.
What a Hybrid Strain?
A strain that is a combination of sativa and indica strains, hybrids can offer a more balanced and moderate high.
What is a Bud?
The flowering top of the cannabis plant, where the majority of the THC is found.
What is Trim?
The leaves and small buds of the cannabis plant that are removed during the harvesting process.
What is Dank?
A term used to describe high-quality, potent cannabis. When it comes to cannabis, you may have heard the term "dank" being used to describe high-quality marijuana. But what exactly does it mean?
Dank is a slang term used to describe cannabis that is potent, high-quality and has a strong aroma. It is often used to describe buds that have a high concentration of trichomes, which are the small, hair-like structures on the surface of the buds that contain the majority of the plant's cannabinoids and terpenes.
Trichomes give cannabis its characteristic aroma and flavor, and they also play a major role in the plant's psychoactive effects. So, the more trichomes a bud has, the stronger its aroma, flavor, and potential effects will be.
Dank buds typically have a strong, pungent aroma, and they may have a range of colors, including green, purple, and orange. They also tend to be dense and sticky to the touch, which is a sign of high trichome content.
It's important to note that dankness can be subjective, as different people may have different preferences when it comes to aroma, flavor, and effects. So, while one person may consider a certain strain to be dank, another person may not.
In summary, dank is a slang term used to describe high-quality cannabis that is potent, has a strong aroma, and a high concentration of trichomes. It is a subjective term, and what one person considers dank may differ from another person's perspective.
How many grams are in an ounce of cannabis?
When it comes to purchasing cannabis, you may have heard people talking about buying it by the ounce. But how much does an ounce of cannabis actually weigh? The answer is 28 grams.
An ounce is a unit of measurement commonly used in the United States and a few other countries, and it is equivalent to approximately 28 grams. This makes it easy to understand how much cannabis you are purchasing when buying by the ounce.
It's important to note that when buying cannabis, the weight may vary depending on the type of product you are buying. For example, cannabis buds will weigh more than cannabis oil. But in general, an ounce of cannabis is equal to 28 grams.
Knowing how much cannabis is in an ounce can help you make more informed purchasing decisions and ensure that you are getting the amount you want. Additionally, it's good to know that you can buy smaller amounts like 1/8th, 1/4th, 1/2 and 1 ounce, which are 3.5, 7, 14, and 28 grams respectively.
In summary, an ounce of cannabis is equal to 28 grams, making it a convenient and standard unit of measurement when buying cannabis. Understanding this measurement can help you make more informed purchasing decisions and ensure you are getting the amount of cannabis you want.
What are the Weight Measurement Guidelines of Cannabis?
It can be measured in grams, ounces, and pounds. An ounce is roughly 28 grams and a pound is roughly 453 grams.
What is a Cannabis Dose?
The amount of cannabis you consume at a time, it can vary from person to person and the effects can vary depending on the individual tolerance and the strain consumed.
What is a Terpene?
Terpenes are a group of organic compounds that are produced by many plants, including cannabis. They are responsible for the distinct aromas and flavors of different cannabis strains. Terpenes are found in the essential oils of the cannabis plant and are produced in the trichomes, which are the small, hair-like structures that cover the surface of the plant. Terpenes are not only responsible for the distinct aromas and flavors of cannabis, but they also have potential therapeutic benefits. They have been known to have anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety and pain relieving properties. Some of the most common terpenes found in cannabis include myrcene, limonene, and linalool.
Are Cannabinoids Terpenes?
No, cannabinoids and terpenes are different chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant.
Cannabinoids are a group of chemical compounds that act on the body's cannabinoid receptors, which are found in the brain and throughout the body. The most well-known cannabinoid is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is responsible for the psychoactive effects of marijuana. Other cannabinoids include cannabidiol (CBD), which does not have psychoactive effects and is being studied for its potential therapeutic benefits.
Terpenes, on the other hand, are a group of organic compounds that are responsible for the distinct aromas and flavors of different cannabis strains. They are found in the essential oils of the cannabis plant and are produced in the trichomes.
Both terpenes and cannabinoids can have therapeutic benefits and work together to create the "Entourage Effect" which is the phenomenon where all the compounds in the plant work together to create a greater effect than any one of them in isolation.
What Is The Entourage Effect?
No, we are not referring to the TV series about Hollywood Brahs. The entourage effect is the phenomenon where all the compounds in the cannabis plant, including cannabinoids and terpenes, work together to create a greater effect than any one of them in isolation. The idea behind the entourage effect is that the different compounds in the plant interact with each other in a way that enhances the plant's therapeutic properties.
For example, some terpenes have been shown to have anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. When these terpenes are combined with cannabinoids such as CBD and THC, they can work together to provide greater relief from pain and inflammation than either one alone.
Additionally, some terpenes can also interact with the endocannabinoid system and modulate the effects of the cannabinoids. Myrcene, for example, increases the blood-brain barrier permeability allowing a greater amount of THC to enter the brain. This makes the effects of THC more potent and longer lasting.
The concept of the entourage effect highlights the importance of studying the whole plant and its compounds, rather than just individual ones, in order to fully understand the therapeutic potential of cannabis.
What are trichomes?
When it comes to cannabis, you may have heard the term "trichomes" being used to describe the small, hair-like structures on the surface of the buds. But what exactly are they, and why are they important?
Trichomes are small, crystal-like structures found on the surface of the cannabis plant, particularly on the buds, leaves, and stems. They are responsible for producing the majority of the plant's cannabinoids and terpenes, which give cannabis its characteristic aroma and flavor, as well as its medicinal and psychoactive effects.
Cannabinoids are the chemical compounds found in cannabis that are responsible for its medicinal and psychoactive effects. The most well-known cannabinoid is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is responsible for the plant's psychoactive effects. Another important cannabinoid is cannabidiol (CBD), which is non-psychoactive and has been found to have medicinal properties.
Terpenes, on the other hand, are the compounds responsible for the plant's aroma and flavor. They are also found in many other plants and play an important role in the plant's defense mechanism. Each strain of cannabis has its unique profile of terpenes, which is responsible for its unique aroma and flavor.
Trichomes are also responsible for the sticky feeling of the buds and that is one of the reasons why buds with more trichomes are considered to be of higher quality.
In summary, trichomes are the small, crystal-like structures found on the surface of the cannabis plant that are responsible for producing the majority of the plant's cannabinoids and terpenes. These compounds give cannabis its characteristic aroma, flavor, and medicinal and psychoactive effects, making trichomes an important aspect to consider when evaluating the quality of cannabis.
It's important to keep in mind that cannabis laws vary by jurisdiction and it's essential to be aware of the laws in your area.
Meet the Santa Monica Moms Making THC Suppositories Designed for Women: An Interview with the Founders of Hello Again
Hello Again is a female wellness line that utilizes the powerful cannabinoids of the cannabis plant in their line of all-natural CBD and THC vaginal suppositories. The company was founded by two friends and formulated with the guidance of experienced medical and cannabis experts. Hello Again aspires to help women of all ages feel like themselves again so they can welcome back their vibrance and confidence.
Hello Again is a female wellness line that utilizes the powerful cannabinoids of the cannabis plant in their line of all-natural CBD and THC vaginal suppositories. The company was founded by two friends who saw there were few effective, plant-based, all natural solutions to their menopause related symptoms and refused to merely tolerate their new normal. Formulated with the guidance of experienced medical and cannabis experts, Hello Again aspires to help women of all ages feel like themselves again so they can welcome back their vibrance and confidence. Hello Again believes that when women are at their best, there is nothing they can't do. Hello Again products are currently available in dispensaries throughout California and for delivery through helloagainproducts.com.
We interviewed the founders of Hello Again, Carrie Mapes and Patty Pappas about what inspired them to start their suppository line, the growing trend of women being canna-curious, and how they have navigated starting a brand in the male dominated cannabis industry.
High Herstory: What was your “a-ha” moment when you both decided you wanted to start your brand, Hello Again?
Answer: We decided to explore local dispensaries in 2018, as cannabis had just become legal in California and we were curious. Our experience that day made us quickly realize that cannabis was uniquely suited to address many of the discomforts we had been experiencing as women in menopause. For months, we searched for a single product geared to address our discomfort without providing a psychoactive high, but there was nothing to be found. We decided to take matters into our own hands – by formulating the product we were looking for and building our own brand from the ground up. We are proud of what we created: a line of effective, consistent and non-psychoactive suppositories to address the physical, cognitive and emotional challenges that affect women of all ages.
High Herstory: Can you tell us more about the idea behind personalized vaginal support suppositories using a blend of botanicals in tandem with THC and CBD?
A: When your body’s systems are out of balance or not functioning properly, your own endocannabinoid system comes to the rescue. A biological call goes out for your cells to produce endocannabinoids, which are cannabinoids made by your body. When needed, endocannabinoids connect with specialized receptors found head to toe in the human body. When endocannabinoids come in contact with and connect to the proper receptors, the biological result is a return to equilibrium and proper function.
The cannabinoids from cannabis (THC and CBD among others) closely mimic our own and are thus able to utilize the body’s receptors to provide the same balancing effect to the physical, emotional and cognitive systems we depend upon for a healthy life.
A vaginal suppository bypasses the digestive tract and liver, where the metabolic byproduct of THC is psychoactive. Suppositories only depend on body temperature to melt at a specific rate and be absorbed by the surrounding skin. The female reproductive tract is full of cannabinoid receptors which receive and interact with cannabinoids; to utilize the THC without the psychoactivity.
Our formulations also include specific botanicals, chosen for their particular wellness properties.
Oh, and as a bonus, the vaginal suppository contains cocoa butter, avocado oil and vitamin E to moisturize, soothe and lubricate while apple cider vinegar maintains the natural pH balance of your vagina.
High Herstory: Have you noticed a trend with your consumers in seeking out these types of products now that cannabis has become more accessible?
A: Absolutely. Cannabis use is not only more accessible, but the stigma around cannabis is quickly decreasing. In addition, we have seen an influx of new consumers coming to the market. When we founded Hello Again there were very few wellness products and now there are entire dispensary sections dedicated to wellness products. For Hello Again, education is crucial to our marketing and sales strategy. There is still a lot of education that needs to be done on how cannabis can improve health and wellness.
High Herstory: It’s mind-blowing to us how little information and solutions there are surrounding menopause. We know that your personal experiences helped to inform your products, what would you say is the most common misconception about going through menopause that you have found?
A: The most common misconception about menopause is that your best years are behind you.
We have found the opposite to be true. Midlife should be liberating. As active child-rearing responsibilities come to a close, daily life can be recreated around more selfish priorities. Your relationship with your partner can be deepened and redefined as you rediscover each other under new circumstances. Midlife provides the time and space for a new kind of personal growth.
Menopause and midlife are also accompanied by a new outlook for many women. We become less focused on what others think and less competitive with other women. This change ushers in a wonderful new phase for both old and new friendships.
High Herstory: What is the product you are loving the most right now?
A: We love to support other female founded products in the cannabis industry. Patty loves the Proof face and body serum. Carrie loves Humboldt Apothecary tinctures.
High Herstory: Where can we currently find your products?
A: Hello Again is currently available in dispensaries across California and for delivery via Grassdoor. Order conveniently through our website or check out the list of dispensaries throughout California!
High Herstory: Do you have plans to expand your product line?
A: We’re currently only available in our home state of California, but plan to expand into additional markets across the country imminently.
High Herstory: What is next for Hello Again?
A: Last year we developed Hello Again Period and Hello Again Hangover in response to how younger women were using our original menopause-focused Hello Again Everyday. We now see another use case emerging and are in early talks about a product geared toward that demographic
High Herstory: Do you have any advice for female entrepreneurs looking to start a wellness line in the cannabis space?
A: The cannabis industry is a tough, rapidly changing industry. Go slow until you know.
This is a riff on a saying within the cannabis space about starting with small doses until you know what you can handle. We repurposed and slightly rephrased it as a business reminder. In the beginning, we were too reactive to situations. We learned that when we want to impulsively react in order to solve a problem or act on advice, we need to keep ourselves in check and slow down the decision-making process.
Your Trippy, Colorful Style Guide to Fall Psychedelic Clothing
Psychedelic fashion is a style of clothing that is characterized by the use of bold, bright colors and a trippy aesthetic. The first mention of psychedelic fashion was in the late 1960s when it became popular among hippies and people who were part of the counterculture movement. Check out our guide to modern day psychedelic fashion!
What is Psychedelic Fashion?
Psychedelic fashion is a style of clothing that is characterized by the use of bold, bright colors and a trippy aesthetic. The term “psychedelic” is derived from the Greek words “psyche” and “delos,” meaning soul or mind and revealing respectively. The first mention of psychedelic fashion was in the late 1960s when it became popular among hippies and people who were part of the counterculture movement. These days, it has become more mainstream with many people wearing it on special occasions or when they want to express themselves creatively. Yet, the psychedelic art movement popularized by bands like the Beatles in the 1960s with their album cover for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and designers like Mary Quant in the 1960s with her miniskirts, hot pants, and geometric patterns, still live on today.
Psychedelic fashion is about self-expression, creativity and is synonymous with weed. When it comes to psychedelic prints, the designs are usually made in the form of geometric shapes or psychedelic flowers. The prints are usually in bright colors like pink, yellow, purple and blue. If you’re into colorful, psychedelic-inspired clothing, you’re in luck because designers Raf Simons and Dries Van Noten both explored the use of trippy, retro-inspired prints recently. According to trend experts Heuritech, psychedelic patterns will be popular beyond just this season. Author Mélanie Mollard states that “the psychedelic print has notable similarities to tie-dye, another major print trend at the moment, with abstract, curving shapes and bursts of melting colors.”
Of course, we know that the fashions of the 1960s and 1970s directly intertwine with stoner culture. Dressing in psychedelic-styled pieces will show the world that: uniforms are for squares who get drug tested at work. (JK, we feel really bad about this one: nobody should get drug tested except narcs.)
So, let’s make our days a bit brighter with some fun, psychedelic clothing and accessories. After all, life’s a trip.
Psychedelic Velvet Short Robe + Matching Shorts
We can definitely picture ourselves getting high in this set.
Bell Sleeve Floral Crop Top
You might want to order a size up, it runs small!
Floral Tie Back Halter
This is the perfect seasonal transitional dress.
The psychedelic fashion trend has been around for decades, but it's never been more customizable than it is today. It's perfect for people who want to express themselves through their clothing. The best part about the trend is that there are so many different ways you can incorporate it into your wardrobe. It doesn't have to be limited to just clothing; there are also plenty of trippy accessories available as well!
How to Be a Weed Mom: Advice from Mothers who are Destigmatizing Cannabis
We asked cannabis mothers what advice they would give to other mothers who might be self-conscious about their cannabis use. Here are their responses.
If you’re a mom who chooses to medicate with cannabis: whether you use weed as a substitute for pharmaceuticals or alcohol; to manage chronic pain or stress; or just because it makes you feel better, that choice has sometimes been historically misunderstood by society. Cannabis use by mothers has been demonized by friends, family, exes and even in court. This is an archaic viewpoint but it’s still not uncommon for people to judge when a mom uses weed. It can be isolating to know if you should mention your cannabis use to other mothers. Maybe they won’t understand or you’ll feel judged. How do you know how your friends might feel about weed? However, there is a community of CannaMoms who are proving moms who use cannabis are not bad moms. Their visibility is helping to break the stigma around weed and prove that there’s nothing wrong with using cannabis with intention if you have kids.
We asked cannabis mothers what advice they would give to other mothers who might be self-conscious about their cannabis use. Here are their responses. Follow them and stay updated on what these incredible women are doing to push the narrative around motherhood and weed forward!

Jessica Gonzales @themommyjane
Jessica Gonzalez is an internationally recognized and published health and wellness influencer, author and mother to two young girls in Northern California.
After years of prescription drug, food and alcohol abuse destroyed her life, Jessica rediscovered cannabis as a wellness tool in her early 30’s and through the power of the plant, got off her prescription drugs for anxiety and depression and completely changed her relationship with alcohol and herself.
Wanting to share her experience with other mothers in mind, Jessica created a virtual “Neighborhood” via her Instagram page @themommyjane where she shares her life as a mom and entrepreneur in the cannabis industry.
Jessica truly believes cannabis saved her life, and loves inspiring her "Neighbors” to become advocates of their own health and wellness, often sharing ways to consume more mindfully and live more consciously; focusing on the fact that cannabis education and normalization, like everything else, starts at home.
Recently, Jessica partnered with cannabis community powerhouse, Tokeativity to condense years of notes and experiences in the cannabis and influencer industry to create a step by step guide on how to mindfully grow your own personal brand on social media launching May 2022.
Jessica’s advice: Have you ever looked at the locations of receptors in our endocannabinoid system? A majority of them reside in the female reproductive system. Therefore balancing our endocannabinoid system is essential for healthy hormone signaling and reproductive health. So don't you ever tell me that Mary Jane was not meant for mothers. Our bodies are literally meant to receive its magic.

Together, we can help change the stigmas and stereotypes about cannabis consumers—and change the whole narrative around the plant for the next generation while we're at it.
Melissa Nowitz, @melissanowitz
In 2014, after our third child was born, I began suffering from postpartum depression and anxiety. Acknowledging, first to myself and then to my support system (my family), that I was not feeling well, I found a great healthcare provider and a wonderful therapist to help me manage my mental health, as well as recognize that some of my symptoms also stemmed from suppressed past trauma. We started with a treatment plan using anti-depression and anxiety medications and it took some trial and error for us to find the right combination that would work best for me. I began experimenting with cannabis in 2018 for medicinal purposes to help with symptoms of anxiety and depression and overtime I was able to find a good balance between cannabis and pharmaceuticals. With the help of cannabis, I am currently working with my health care provider on tapering down and out of the remaining prescription medication that I am taking, and I'm hoping to be pharmaceutical free in the future. It has by no means been an easy road and I feel like there are a lot of women out there who are in a similar situation as me.
Melissa’s Advice: Being public about my mental health challenges, my cannabis use and communicating how it has helped me, is in an effort to reach my goal of breaking the stigma of cannabis use by women and moms. I urge anyone who is not feeling well and struggling with their mental health to reach out to someone, anyone for support, and find a health care provider that they are comfortable with to help. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, it may seem long and dark, but eventually you will get there. Hang in there, stay the course and know that you are not alone.

Her Unapologetic Mom’s Club connects women with vetted credible experts through weekly interviews and monthly workshops where members can dive deep into the topics that matter most to them, all while connecting with a community of like-minded moms who practice living holistically and intentionally.
Jannine’s advice: Be unapologetic in the choices you make in motherhood. Cannabis is an incredible wellness tool and unfortunately many people don't understand that. Do your research, be confident in your choices with the plant, and don't let other people shame you or sway your decisions. You know what's right for you and your family!
Sabrina, @wholetmebeamom
My name is Sabrina. I am a Wife, a Mother of two and I am a content creator focused on making cannabis consumption normalized for mothers. My content encourages women to use responsibly and to be confident in using Cannabis by doing their own research and being honest with themselves about why they use Cannabis. I also host Mom Meet-Ups in California because in a world full of judgment I feel it is important to provide a safe place for Canna-Moms to meet like-minded friends. I believe that ending the stigma begins at home with our kids, our family and friends through open conversations and education.

Meet Riley Brain, Founder of Wandering Bud, A Former School Teacher Who Has Built a Beautiful Line of Handmade Ceramic Smoking Accessories.
Today we are interviewing Riley Brain, founder of Wandering Bud, a ceramic design and production studio that focuses on bringing highly aesthetic smokeware into the home. Made by hand for the design-conscious cannabis consumer, their ceramic wares compliment home decor, hit like a dream and clean easily. In 2018, Riley left her job as a public school teacher to follow her passions of art and design to scale her line of handmade slip cast ceramic pipes, bong, and smoking accessories. Today, she employs an all-female team of artists and manages an often-viral TikTok with hundreds of thousands of followers and she does all this while living with chronic illness. We got to speak to Riley about how she scaled her brand, her plans for the future and the obstacles of marketing a cannabis adjacent accessory shop.
High Herstory: What was your “a-ha” moment when you both decided you wanted to start your company Wandering Bud?
Riley Brain: In 2016, I traveled from my home in Missouri, a prohibition state, to Oregon, a fully legal state, in hopes of finding a water pipe that was so well-designed that it could live on my coffee table. When I realized there wasn’t a bong in Portland, of all places, that didn’t scream “Hi, I’m a bong,” I knew I had to try making one myself.
High Herstory: Can you tell us about some of the obstacles you have faced as a cannabis adjacent brand?
Riley Brain: My biggest frustration in life is being looped into the same category as dispensaries. Social media platforms, website providers, banks, payroll providers and payment processors can’t seem to discern a difference between a store selling actual weed and a company like ours that only sells ceramics. For example: in 2020, our payment processor dropped us with no notice, leaving us unable to take orders on our website for an entire month. We’ve been banned from TikTok and Instagram after organically growing six-figure followings, and we are not allowed to run ads with Meta. At the beginning of this month, our payroll provider decided to drop us as of May 1st, and my search for a new provider is proving to be very pricey because we work adjacent to cannabis. Running an ancillary business feels like a high stakes game of whack-a-mole.
High Herstory: Have you noticed a trend with your consumers in seeking out these types of ancillary products now that cannabis has become more accessible?
Riley Brain: I’ve thought a lot about this in the past few months with our home state, Missouri, going recreationally legal a few months ago. We have always shipped our pipes all over the country, with higher concentrations going to areas with higher population density. The legal status in an individual state does not seem to have much of a bearing on where our pieces are most in-demand. However, I do think we will slowly see the Boomer generation open their minds to cannabis consumption as legalization sweeps across the country. They are the group of people who withstood Regan-era war on drugs messaging the longest, and I think it has (and will take) legalization and the slow tear-down of cannabis stigma to bring more Baby Boomers into the well-designed cannabis space.
High Herstory: We know that your personal experiences helped to inform your products, what would you say the ethos behind your aesthetic is?
Riley Brain: It’s no secret that I am an interior design enthusiast. My husband and I purchased our 1920s bungalow about 18 months before I started Wandering Bud, and it was my enjoyment of pulling together thoughtfully-designed spaces in my home that motivated me to start the business. I put a lot of thought into the antique furniture pieces I thrifted, the textiles and other accessories I sourced to fill my space, and I wanted my cannabis tools to feel just as curated. The shapes I’ve designed are most often inspired by furniture, interior architectural details, wallpaper, and textiles.
High Herstory: We also hear you are big on Tik Tok! Congrats, that is awesome! Are you finding that there are a lot of hurdles similar to promoting your products on Instagram?
Riley Brain: TikTok is a wild place! The censorship is even more extreme over there, which has its pros and cons. On Instagram, I am occasionally accused of contributing to cannabis stigma because I choose to self-censor for the protection of our account. Instagram is slower and less consistent about removing cannabis content. Even so, they still took down our account earlier this year, which was pretty terrifying. On TikTok, anyone who shows weed or uses weed-related terms will be reprimanded within minutes of posting a video. The viewership over there understands that. They know creators are doing their best to circumvent content moderation systems and are happy to follow me down a rabbit hole of algospeak terminology, which is often improvised. Those who get it, get it.
High Herstory: What is your favorite thing about owning your own brand?
Riley Brain: Every day feels like a choose-your-own-adventure. There is an endless list of to-do’s, so I’m never at a loss for things to work on, and I can select which variety of tasks I’d like to tackle on any given day. No two days are the same, which, after six years of teaching, feels really refreshing.
High Herstory: What have been some of your best sellers and why do you think these particular designs resonate with your customers?
Riley Brain: Our bestseller is the Billie Bubbler. I designed Billie in 2019 after my developing ceramic skills finally caught up with my original vision for Wandering Bud, which was pretty thrilling. No one else was really doing ceramic bubblers at the time, so I think our customers were ready for some water pipe reform. We were consistently sold out of Billies for a long time (and still have a hard time keeping them in stock despite scaling our team), and rave reviews have continued to pour in during the (nearly) four years since Billie’s launch. It really is the perfect balance between form and function with neither sacrificing for the other.
High Herstory: What is your personal go to ceramic piece from your collection?
Riley Brain: Haha, again I’ll point to the Billie bubbler for this one with the Sprout one hitter being a close second. Can you tell I have a favorite?
I am a lightweight who hates throat burn, and I designed Billie for myself. Water pipes cool the smoke, and the tapered mouthpiece shape enables you to better control the size of your hit. An evening sesh for me typically includes two hits from Billie before relaxing into the couch for an hour of TV then bed. Sprout is my go-to if I’m in a hurry on the weekend - it’s so easy to pack a quick bowl, and the small size means I’m not wasting anything. It’s also easy to collect a few, especially in fun limited edition designs, so I can rotate between Sprouts if it’s been a minute since I’ve cleaned them.
High Herstory: Where can we find Wandering Bud products currently?
Riley Brain: You can find all of our products on our website - wanderingbud.com - which also includes a list of all the brick and mortar stores that stock our pieces around the US.
High Herstory: Do you have any advice for female entrepreneurs looking to start their own business in the cannabis space?
Riley Brain: Everything is figure-out-able. We may encounter roadblocks that non-cannabis businesses never think twice about, but there is a solution for everything. And it’s likely Google-able. Make friends in the space so you can share information and encourage each other!
High Herstory: What’s next for Wandering Bud?
Riley Brain: We have the entire year planned out for the first time ever (organization isn’t my strong suit), so we’ll be dropping limited edition collections and collaborations every month this year. Our team is excited to get hands-on with some really fun design concepts! Next up in May is the return of our coveted citrus pipe, which looks like you’re taking a bite out of the wedge while you’re smoking.
High Herstory Season 2 & What The Hell Happened When We Created a TV Show About Female Stoners For a Streaming Network
We’ve been getting a few questions about what happened after the first season of High Herstory launched last year, and we wanted to share our experience as female content creators who self-funded the first season of a TV show. You can now stream the first season for free on YouTube if you haven’t seen it yet.
What Happened To High Herstory?
We’ve been getting a few questions about what happened after the first season of High Herstory launched last year, and we wanted to share our experience as female content creators who self-funded the first season of a TV show. You can now stream the first season for free on YouTube if you haven’t seen it yet.
For context: we started the series, an episodic cannabis comedy show that tells the stories of historical women as a response to Drunk History. In a world of binge drinking and HIS-story we wanted to normalize cannabis consumption, tell stories of women, and showcase the best brands out there. We self-produced Season One (raised funds, developed, wrote, cast, shot and edited) as part of a four person team. It was honestly a lot of work….but the show ended up streaming on an OTT platform and was available on Amazon, Apple TV, Roku, etc. The series also played in dispensary TVs across the US. The show was even featured in FORBES, High Times and other media outlets who called the show “the female 4/20 version of Drunk History we’ve all been waiting for”. We were pumped that people responded to the show and excited to start producing the second season.
Then we started casting for Season Two and developed an amazing list of women in the cannabis industry to feature. However, we started to get red flags from the network and pitching to cannabis brands for funding was…exhausting to say the least. Coincidentally we were approached by a producer friend to pitch the series to larger networks…think HBO...so we put a pin in our original plans for Season Two. We ended up working with our amazing producer friend and a well-known production company to develop an entirely new version of High Herstory. We were super excited about it and to pitch it to networks! And then…the production company was bought by a larger company and the project was halted.
We continued to pitch to a few more companies and the feedback was that networks were not interested in shows around cannabis at this time. It would’ve been incredible to create Season Two with women in the cannabis industry or a more celebrity focused version for streaming and we would keep it in mind for the future if the path was clear! We have been focusing on our website, brand collabs, and are thinking of creating more YouTube content. When people ask why we don’t create more around women in history it’s because it gets the least amount of engagement on our page and we are maybe a bit burnt out on it. But never the less, we wanted to share a few things that we learned as female content creators along the way.
Our takeaways from the experience:
Creators, copyright your bigger projects!
It’s not always easy to know when to charge ahead or take a pause when a project get difficult. Ultimately we are happy that we built the series but your happiness is worth more than burn out.
Not everyone who says they will pay you will. Make your contracts bulletproof.
Community is everything. A brand’s marketing team (outside the industry) put out a similar series after we pitched them. It was totally unintentional but it would’ve been more powerful to collaborate inside of the community.
Women supporting women and “diversity” are more than just a catch phrase. Put your money where your mouth is.

Let’s be real, it’s always a good time to support Black and WOC-owned businesses and not only during Black History Month! We rounded up of some of our favorite brands. We hope this shopping guide helps you find the perfect gift for yourself of your loved ones.
Let’s be real, it’s always a good time to support Black-Owned businesses, and not only during Black History Month! The cannabis industry has exploded in recent years, with legalization spreading to more and more states and countries around the world. But as the industry has grown, so too has the need for greater diversity and inclusivity within its ranks. Black entrepreneurs and business owners have long been underrepresented in the cannabis space, despite the fact that they have played a significant role in shaping the industry from its earliest days.
Fortunately, there are a growing number of Black-Founded companies in the cannabis industry, as well as in CBD and ancillary products. These businesses are bringing a fresh perspective to the industry and are helping to create a more equitable and just landscape for all who are involved.
These are some of our personal favorite founders, whom we have had the honor to meet, work with, and try their products. If there’s a brand you love and don’t see here, feel free to send us an email at Hello@highherstory.com and let us know!
Whether you need stress relief, a boost of energy, or help getting a good night’s sleep, Queen Mary is more than a brand. It’s a homage to today’s woman. Also, we love their slogan: Queen Mary ~ A Fixin for A Vixen!
Besides the unique designs, one of our favorite things about these Chill Stone filter tips is that they come with a stylish chain so you can wear them around your neck. These definitely are some of the most adorable and useful cannabis smoking accessories we have ever come across.
As a bonus, your lip gloss won’t come off on the paper when you smoke!
Josephine and Billie’s wants as many Women of Color as possible to experience and discover the healing properties of plant medicine. From THC percentages, strain types, terpene profiles, Josephine & Billie’s encourage self-care and joy, and to educate every woman that walks in the door, giving her a little more than she came in with.
Fast forward four years later and the dad-daughter duo has become a strong team of four. With over 2,000 customers and zero products returned, we understand that there is a need for reliable cannabis and medicine storage. Today, Nekktar is designing modern storage for modern medicine.

How to Use A Dab Pen: Why You’ll Love Using a Wax Pen for Weed.
Dabbing is considered a potent way to consume cannabis and can be a great option for achieving a stronger and longer-lasting effect from your weed. A dab pen, also known as a wax pen or concentrate pen, is a device used to vaporize concentrates such as wax and oil. Dab pens are portable, easy to use and emit less odor than traditional dabbing, making them a more discreet option for consuming concentrates on-the-go.
They are also less expensive and safer than traditional dabbing equipment, as they don't require a torch and have customizable temperature settings. They are a great option for those who want a convenient and customizable way to consume concentrates.
What’s the difference between a dab pen and wax pen?
A dab pen and a wax pen are the same thing. They are both devices used to vaporize concentrates such as wax and oil. They are portable, easy to use and are sort of similar to electronic cigarettes.
A "dab" is a slang term for a small amount of concentrate, and a "dab pen" is a type of vaporizer that is specifically designed to vaporize these small amounts of concentrates. A "wax pen" is another term for a dab pen, as it is commonly used to vaporize wax concentrates, but can also be used to vaporize other types of concentrates as well.
Why Dab?
There are several reasons why someone might prefer using a dab pen for cannabis concentrates over other methods of consumption:
Discreetness: Dab pens are small and portable, making them easy to use discreetly in public or at home. They emit less odor than smoking and vaporize the concentrate instead of combusting it, which is less noticeable.
Stronger effects: Concentrates, such as wax and oil, are more potent than the traditional flower form of cannabis. They can provide a stronger and more immediate effect for those looking for a more intense experience.
Variety of options: Dab pens can be used with a variety of concentrates, including wax, oil, and shatter, allowing users to experiment with different textures and potencies.
Convenience: Dab pens are easy to use and require minimal maintenance. They can be quickly loaded and used on-the-go, making them a convenient option for people with busy lifestyles.
Health benefits: Vaporizing concentrates can be less harmful than smoking since it doesn't produce the same number of harmful toxins and carcinogens as smoking.
Flavor: Vaporizing can preserve the terpene profile of the concentrate, providing a more flavorful experience than smoking.
A dab pen can be a great option for those who want a discreet, potent, convenient, and flavorful way to consume cannabis concentrates. However, it's important to note that the use of cannabis and its concentrates is still illegal in some states, so make sure to check the laws of your state before using it.
How to Use a Dab Pen:
If you're new to using a dab pen, the process may seem intimidating at first, but it's actually quite simple. We'll walk you through the steps of using a dab pen so you can enjoy your concentrates with ease.
Step 1: Charge the Battery
The first step in using a dab pen is to charge the battery. Most dab pens come with a USB charging cable that can be plugged into a computer or wall adapter. Make sure the battery is fully charged before using the pen for the first time.
Step 2: Load the Concentrate
Once the battery is charged, it's time to load the concentrate. The process of loading the concentrate will vary depending on the type of pen you have. Most pens have a chamber or atomizer where the concentrate is placed. Some pens require a special tool to load the concentrate, while others have a simple twist-off cap. Refer to the instructions that came with your pen for specific loading instructions.
Step 3: Turn on the Pen
Once the concentrate is loaded, turn on the pen by clicking the power button five times quickly. This is usually the case for most of the devices, but you can also check the instructions that came with your pen to see how to turn it on.
Step 4: Adjust the Temperature
Some dab pens come with adjustable temperature settings, while others have a fixed temperature. If your pen has adjustable temperature settings, use the power button to select the desired temperature. Start with a low temperature and work your way up until you find the sweet spot for your concentrate.
Step 5: Take a Dab
With the pen fully charged, the concentrate loaded, and the temperature set, it's time to take a dab. Press the power button and inhale through the mouthpiece. Hold the vapor in for a few seconds before exhaling. Repeat as desired.
Step 6: Turn off and Clean the Pen
When you're finished using the pen, be sure to turn it off by clicking the power button five times quickly. This is also usually the case for most of the devices, but you can also check the instructions that came with your pen to see how to turn it off. Clean the pen regularly to ensure it performs properly and lasts for a long time.
Make sure to always refer to the instruction manual that came with your device and stay safe while using it. Don’t forget dabbing can be more intense than smoking or vaporizing flower and should be used with caution! Start low and slow.

How Do I Pick a Weed Strain That Won’t Get Me Too High?
Picking a cannabis strain that won't get you too high can be a tricky process, but there are a few things you can keep in mind to help you find the right one. Here are a few tips.
First of all, if you’ve gotten too high, you might want to check out our article on What To Do When You Get Toooo High.
However, if you have already gotten over being too high, you might want to improve your experience. The right strain is definitely going to be a part of that. Picking a cannabis strain that won't get you too high can be a tricky process, but there are a few things you can keep in mind to help you find the right one. Here are a few tips:
Look for strains with low THC levels.
THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the psychoactive compound in cannabis that is responsible for the "high" feeling. Strains with low THC levels (around 5-10%) will be less likely to cause overwhelming or anxiety-inducing effects.
Choose strains with higher CBD levels.
CBD (cannabidiol) is a non-psychoactive compound that can help to counteract some of the negative effects of THC. Strains with higher CBD levels (around 10-20%) can help to reduce anxiety and paranoia, making for a more pleasant and manageable high.
Or just, pick a CBD rich strain that won’t get you high at all if you prefer but still give you the other benefits of cannabinoids.
Look for strains specifically bred for their low psychoactivity.
There are some strains that are specifically bred for their low psychoactivity, such as "Harlequin" or "ACDC" and they are known for their high CBD content and low THC content.
Try a hybrid strain.
Hybrid strains are a combination of sativa and indica strains, and they can offer a more balanced and moderate high.
Start low and go slow.
When trying a new strain, it's important to start with a low dose and see how it affects you before consuming more. This will help you to gauge the effects of the strain and prevent you from getting too high.
Talk to a budtender.
If you're still unsure about which strain to choose, talk to a budtender at a dispensary. They will have knowledge about the different strains and their effects, and can help you to find the right one for your needs.
It's important to remember that cannabis affects everyone differently, so what may work for one person may not work for another. Be open to trying different strains, and pay attention to how your body reacts to them. Keep in mind, that it's also important to consume responsibly and not to drive or operate heavy machinery while under the influence.

What To Do If You Ever Get Too High
If you’ve ever gotten too high on weed, you’re probably familiar with the uncomfortable feeling of being overwhelmed by the effects. Getting “too high” is a common experience for cannabis users, especially those who are new to the plant. Fortunately, there are a few simple steps you can take to help bring yourself back down and make the experience more enjoyable. Getting too high on weed can be a scary and overwhelming experience, but it's important to remember that it's not dangerous and that the symptoms will eventually pass.
Here are a few things you can do to help ease the intensity of a bad high:
1. Stay Calm
The most important thing to remember when you’re feeling too high is to stay calm. Remember that the effects of cannabis are temporary and that the feeling will eventually pass. Taking deep breaths, closing your eyes, and focusing on your breathing can help you stay grounded and relaxed.
First and foremost, take a deep breath. It sounds simple, but it can do wonders for calming your mind and body. Deep breaths help to slow your heart rate and the rise and fall of your chest will help to relax your body. Stay calm and try to relax. The more you panic, the worse the high will feel, so it's important to stay as calm as possible. Find a comfortable and safe place to sit or lie down, and focus on taking deep inhales and exhales.
2. Stay hydrated
Drink plenty of water and eat some snacks to help you come down from your high. Not only will this help keep you hydrated, but it will also provide your body with the nutrients it needs to help it come back down to earth.
3. Get a snack
Being dehydrated can make a high feel worse, so when you have drank plenty of water, it might be time for a snack. Eating something, especially your favorite foods, can help to ease the intensity of the high. Drinking plenty of water and eating some snacks have been known to do wonders since the invention of weed. Not only will a snack help comfort you, but it will also provide your body with the nutrients it needs to help it come back down to earth.
4. Try to distract yourself.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, try to distract yourself with a favorite activity or show. Watching a comedy or listening to music can help to take your mind off of the high. Watch your favorite movie, read a spiritual book, or do something else that will occupy your mind and body.
5. Take a shower or bath.
Taking a warm shower or bath can help to relax your muscles and reduce anxiety.
6. Use CBD.
CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis that can help to counteract some of the negative effects of THC. Taking a CBD oil or tincture can help to reduce anxiety and paranoia.
7. Seek companionship.
If you're feeling paranoid or anxious, it can be helpful to have someone you trust nearby to talk to and reassure you that everything is okay. Talking to a friend or family member can help you feel more grounded and secure. It can also give you a greater sense of perspective, so you don’t get too stuck in your own head.
8. Wait it out.
Remember, the effects of cannabis are temporary and will eventually pass, so the best thing to do is to wait it out. It's important to keep in mind that getting too high on weed is not dangerous and it will pass. If you find yourself in a situation where you are too high, take a deep breath, remind yourself that this is temporary and try to ride it out. If you find that you are experiencing long-term negative effects from your cannabis use, it is important to speak with a medical professional.
Things To Enhance Your Cannabis High:
Cannabis is a beloved substance enjoyed by millions of people around the world. Whether you're a seasoned smoker or new to the game, there are a few things you can do to enhance your cannabis high and make the most of your experience.
Start with a clean slate.
Before you start smoking, make sure you're in a comfortable and relaxed environment. Clear your mind of any distractions and focus on the task at hand.
Choose the right strain.
Different strains of cannabis have different effects, so it's important to choose one that suits your needs. Sativa strains are known for their uplifting and energizing effects, while indica strains are known for their relaxing and sedating effects but there is so much more to consider.
Smoke with friends.
Sharing a joint or a pipe with friends can be a great way to enhance your cannabis high. Not only will you have someone to share the experience with, but the social aspect of smoking can also make the high more intense.
Experiment with different methods of consumption.
While smoking is the most traditional method of consuming cannabis, there are many other ways to do so, such as vaporizing, edibles, and tinctures. Each method will give you a different experience, so it's worth experimenting to find the one that works best for you.
Listen to music.
Music can have a powerful effect on the mind, and it can enhance your cannabis high by making you more relaxed, energized, or introspective, depending on the type of music you're listening to.
Pair with a healthy meal.
Eating a healthy meal before or during your cannabis experience can enhance the high by providing the body with nutrients, and it will also help to reduce any appetite suppression caused by cannabis.
Hydrate and stay active.
You know we are always going to be those friends who tell you to drinl water. Drinking water and staying active can help to combat the dehydrating and sedentary effects of cannabis.
Do some introspection.
Cannabis can be a great tool for introspection, and it can help you to explore your thoughts and feelings in a deeper way. Take some time to reflect on yourself and your life, and see what insights you can gain from the experience.
Overall, cannabis can be a wonderful substance that can enhance your life in many ways. With the right approach, you can make the most of your cannabis high and enjoy an experience that's truly unique and satisfying.
PAX Weed Vaporizer Review: The PAX 3 Vape Vs the PAX Era Vape
We have been users of PAX Vapor products for years now. Each PAX product is special in its own right, but there are also some drawbacks that you should be aware of before you make a purchase. You also need to consider which product fits your lifestyle and personal preferences.
If you’ve been a fan of PAX Vapor products for a while or are just now learning about them, you might be wondering which product is best for you and if they are even worth it. Have you been eyeing the upgraded PAX 3 and are wondering if it’s really better than the PAX 2? Curious what all the fuss is over the PAX Era vape pen? Or are you a serious smoker who is debating if you even need a vape?
We have been users of PAX Vapor products for years now. Each PAX product is special in its own right, but there are also some drawbacks that you should be aware of before you make a purchase. You also need to consider which product fits your lifestyle and personal preferences. Keep reading for our honest thoughts on the PAX 3 and PAX Era and why these products have actually made their way into our rotations.
To be transparent with you, PAX did send us free product to review but we have also bought many of their products over the years and you are getting our real take as always.
What’s the difference between the PAX 3 and the PAX Era?
The PAX 3 is a multi-use device you can use with dried herb and waxy or solid concentrates. Its versatility is a huge plus. The PAX Era can only be used with oil extract pods that you have to purchase specifically for the Era. That doesn’t mean you should count out the Era though. Keep reading for why we think the Era is a staple that any cannabis aficionado should add to their arsenal even if you can’t use it with your own flower.
The PAX 3 is larger than the super sleek PAX Era but it’s still easily portable. You could easily toss either of these into your purse or backpack to take with you on the go. Both of them are excellent at keeping their charge too. The PAX 3 lasts 2.5 hours (about 8-10 sessions) and the PAX Era impressively lasts about 150 puffs. That makes both of these products ideal for outdoor events, music festivals, beach days, and sneaking a puff at a family reunion.
How is the PAX 3 better than the PAX 2?
If you are like us, you might have had a PAX since 2017 or so and stopped using it because you prefer bong rips and smoking joints. It might be sitting at the bottom of your weed drawer collecting dust and you’re wondering, why do I need another one of these? While you may still prefer smoking, PAX products offer unparalleled convenience.
The PAX 3 is the upgrade that takes this device to the next level. It features an enhanced oven that heats up in just 22 seconds and works with dried flower and both waxy + solid concentrates. The PAX 2 only allowed you to use loose-leaf and had no option for concentrates.
As opposed to the PAX 2, with the PAX 3 you can get more sessions on a single charge with 25% greater battery capacity than the PAX 2. You can also use the PAX App to enhance your session which wasn’t possible on the PAX 2. There’s a slight drawback with using the app that we’ll explain below, but Pax figured out a work-around.
The PAX 3 has the same advanced lip-sensing technology as the original PAX vaporizer - basically, it drops the temperature to conserve the material inside when it senses you aren’t using it and brings it back to temperature when you put your lips up to it again. Pretty cool, right?
Here’s a breakdown of the PAX 3’s improvements over the PAX 2:
Ready for use in just 22 seconds vs the PAX 2 which takes 45 seconds to heat.
Mobile-app compatible for precise control of your device.
Concentrate insert allows you to vaporize waxes and concentrates in addition to flower.
PAX 3 Oven is twice as powerful for better heating.
PAX 3 has additional settings to further improve your vaping experience. These presets can be accessed in the PAX app or by pressing the button. Here are the different modes you can choose from:
Standard Mode: Balances vapor production and flavor preservation
Boost Mode: Increased vapor production without sacrificing preferred temperature
Efficiency Mode: Supports consistent vapor production
Flavor Mode: Faster heating and cooling for optimized flavor
Stealth Mode: Maintains lower temperature and quick cooldown for discreet use
PAX 2 has a transverse-brushed look, while PAX 3 has a smooth, matte finish. The vapes are also offered in different colors.
PAX 3’s “complete kit” comes with even more accessories, including ones for concentrates, including:
Half-pack oven lid to decrease oven size
Concentrates insert
Three oven screens
Multi-tool for packing and emptying the oven
PAX 3 offers a lot more versatility and functionality than its predecessor.
Pax 3: Cons
Though the PAX 3 is a pretty revolutionary product, there are a few cons you should know about that we’ve become aware of since we started using it.
PAX 3’s App is really cool but it’s kinda annoying to access if you’ve got an iPhone. In 2019, Apple removed all vaporizing apps from its store, including the PAX app.
PAX has since created a simple workaround for all Apple/iOS users:
Go to the App Store and download the Connect Browser app.
Open it up and grant it access to Bluetooth.
Click the URL bar up top and go to Pax.com. Choose PAX 3 and then enter the serial number located on the back of your vape.
Turn your PAX 3 on and shake it until the petals turn blue. Then, with Bluetooth enabled, press “Connect” on the app, choose your PAX, and you’re good to go.
We don’t understand why the mouthpiece area is where the button is. Since this is such a great product to take on the go we always feel like we have to worry about hand germs getting on the area where we put our mouths.
PAX 3 scratches super easily.
The flat mouthpiece is kinda weird and doesn’t hit very well. The raised one provided in the complete kit is far superior.
You do have to clean it a lot.
Even though this product is supposed to be discreet, there is definitely still a smell - even a little in stealth mode. Emptying your bowl quickly after you’re done with your session helps and you can use a Skunk Case, which is an airtight protection device that prevents any smells from escaping.
You have to use PAX 3's cable and not any other random USB-charging cable to charge and we always seem to loose it.
Pax 3: Pros
Now that we’ve gotten really nit-picky about the disadvantages of the PAX, let’s talk about the good stuff!
Stealth Mode is a really cool feature and paired with the aforementioned skunk case, can be really handy for consuming discreetly on the go.
PAX 3 saves so much weed! We have gotten 50-60 hits off on efficiency mode.
Consistent flavors, aromas, and potency. All without any potentially harmful byproducts of combustion.
PAX 3 is truly pocket-size. It’s smaller and more light-weight than any other comparable vapes on the market. Perfect for tiny handbags and pockets - also, why do women’s clothing only sometimes have pockets??
The option to use flower and concentrates in one device makes this a complete game-changer.
Safety. The air path of the PAX is fully separated from the electronics, including the heating elements so there’s no risk inhaling toxic fumes with the PAX.
There’s no learning curve. This is such an easy vape to use!
What’s the Difference Between the Pax 3 Basic Kit and the Complete Kit?
The Basic Kit comes with the following:
Flat Mouthpiece
Raised Mouthpiece
USB Charger
Maintenance Kit
Standard Oven Lid
The Complete Kit includes all of this:
Flat Mouthpiece
Raised Mouthpiece
USB Charger
Maintenance Kit
Standard Oven Lid
Half-Pack Oven Lid
Concentrate Insert
Multi-Tool (Keychain)
3 Oven Screens
Personally, we think the complete kit is worth it for the concentrate insert and the multi-tool keychain!
What’s the Difference Between the PAX Era and the PAX 3?
Unlike the PAX 3 which is a portable conduction vaporizer, the PAX Era is a vape pen.
The Era is one of the best vape pens on the market. Yes, that’s a pretty big claim but you heard us right. Between it being nearly odorless, making it the most discreet product in our arsenal, and it’s so safe and easy to use.
Why it’s so easy to use: When you breathe it activates the heating instead of a having to push a button. You just shake the vape and it displays the battery meter. Pre-filled pods are available from dispensaries in states with legal recreational use and medical use so you never have to worry about mess or needing to reload your bowl.
Why it’s so safe: PAX Era pods are made with food grade materials and tested to medical standards, certified free from harmful heavy metals, toxins and contaminants. The pod technology contains patented temp control to make sure the oil is properly heated until the last tiny drop.
What’s the Difference Between the PAX Pro and PAX Era Life?
The shape and size are nearly identical on the PAX Pro and PAX Era. The Pro has a slightly larger light display and comes in different colors. The Era Pro has 65% more battery life and allows you to use the PAX App to have a more customizable session.
Pax Era Pro: Cons
Accessing the pods can sometimes be challenging if you aren’t close to a dispensary. You can use PAX’s locator tool to find them near you.
If you’re a light-weight the Era will do the trick in one puff, but sometimes for those with heavy tolerance, it can take a lot to feel the effects of your medicine.
Pax Era Pro: Pros
Inside each pod includes one of the smallest NFC chips on the globe (!) that is connected to the batch of cannabis it contains. That means you can pair the Era Pro to Bluetooth and it can show you the individual test results for that specific pod. How cool is that?
The pen also can check the pod you put in for the manufacturer’s recommended temperature setting which have different heat recommendations from strain to strain. We are living in the future, friends.
You can use any USB charger to power your device back up. Unlike the PAX 3 which you’ll need to keep track of the device’s specific charger.
This is the most portable device ever and perfect for travel. You can legally travel with the device itself and pick up your pods in the state you are arriving in.
The Era Pro has an excellent battery life. You can get an impressive 250 puffs per charge.
Is Vaping Really Safe?
You’ve probably heard the news about vape safety and you should definitely stay informed about what you’re putting into your body. That’s why if you’re going to vape, you need to make sure you aren’t just vaping from any company. You should always check to make sure you aren’t vaping any added vitamin E acetate. PAX products contain absolutely no vitamin E acetate.
That’s why PAX is worth the extra cost for their vape products because they spend a lot of time and energy perfecting technology and safety.
The PAX 3 is actually safer than smoking and way less harsh on your lungs. There is no teflon (PTFE) in the air path or that would be exposed to you on the exterior of the PAX 3. There is a tiny amount of PTFE in the PAX 3’s internal heater but it is completely encapsulated inside the device. Also, the temperature control doesn’t allow the heater to reach any dangerous temperatures where PTFE can vaporize and cause issues.
As we stated above, PAX Era pods are made with food-grade materials and tested to medical standards, certified free from harmful heavy metals, toxins and contaminants. The pod technology comes with temp control to make sure the oil is good to the last drop and even meets the manufacturer’s recommended temperature setting which have different heat recommendations from strain to strain.
The PAX 3 and the PAX Era Pro also offer a child safety mode you can turn on in the app!
So, which Pax product is right for you?
Depending on your intended use, there is probably a PAX product that would be perfect to add to your weed arsenal.
If you’re looking for the pinnacle of discretion and want absolutely no odors, for a family gathering let’s say, the PAX Era is probably your best option.
Whatever you decide, you’ll be glad to have a device that lets you consume on the go, conserve your weed, smoke less to save your lungs and that represents the best of cannabis technology.
Do you have a question about these devices? Feel free to shoot us an email and we’ll be happy to help you out! Enjoy this review? We are affiliates with PAX so if you use our link you’ll be supporting our content.

As Founder and CEO of Kahner Global, a company that specializes in curating high-level investor conferences, webinars, and private events in the cannabis and psychedelics space, Noa Kahner follows a mission to bring the utmost quality and integrity to her company's events.
Hosted annually in New York City, San Francisco, Toronto, Fort Lauderdale, Beverly Hills, and London, the summits provide a highly curated, unique, and intimate conference experience that brings an optimal deal flow to its audience of investors and entrepreneurs. Noa is passionate about bringing an impactful network to the alternative investment community and highlighting the industry's leaders and dealmakers.
We had the opportunity to speak with Noa to learn more about her summit and all things cannabis and psychedelic investing.
High Herstory: What made you interested in bringing your expertise to the world of Cannabis and Psychedelics?
Noa Kahner: Although any industry can be featured to family offices and ultra-high net worth investors, I felt Cannabis and Psychedelics were underserved in providing a true investor conference to vetted investor attendees. The psychedelics industry is so exciting and promising in terms of bringing real change to the mental health industry which is why I am a huge believer in the space. When the cannabis industry was beginning to boom, I felt the same excitement in the opportunities that this new industry will bring.
High Herstory: What is your mission behind Kahner Global and how did you begin the summits?
Noa Kahner: Kahner Global provides an intimate, highly curated investor conference for those looking to build a strong network of industry peers and investors. We began our summits in 2015 and were one of the first to bring together family offices and ultra-high net worth investors. We saw the opportunity to connect this new industry to private capital and did our first event in New York City that year. Since then we have expanded to host events in Miami, San Francisco, L.A., London, and Toronto.
High Herstory: Can you tell us more about Kahner Global’s Pitch Days?
Noa Kahner: Our pitch days are virtual opportunities for companies to share their decks and have discussions with interested investors. We held these primarily during COVID when live events weren’t an option, but continue to provide pitch opportunities virtually and in person. We are now back to doing our conferences and offer a pitch session at each event for companies to pitch to a room full of industry investors.
High Herstory: Are there any trends you’re particularly interested in cannabis or psychedelics?
Noa Kahner: I am interested to see the development in the mental health space once psychedelics become a form of medication for those who suffer from anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I believe psychedelics will be a game changer once they are used with therapy or under the right guidance. More research needs to be completed, but so far, it looks very promising.
High Herstory: Do you have any advice for entrepreneurs seeking investment?
Noa Kahner: As both of these industries grow more competitive each day, it’s important for entrepreneurs to clearly define their value proposition and what makes them unique. In addition to having a great idea, product or service, entrepreneurs need to show investors their track record of success, the team they’ve built, and financials.
High Herstory: What upcoming events are on the horizon?
Noa Kahner: Our next summit is in New York City on October 25 and then Miami February, 27, 2023.
High Herstory: Who are some of the speakers you are most excited about for the 2022 New York Summit?
Noa Kahner: We have Tremaine Wright, Chair of the NY Cannabis Control Board opening the event which will be a great opportunity to learn more about details for the cannabis program in NYC and across the state.
High Herstory: Is there anything else you want to share with us?
Noa Kahner: We are truly excited to bring our community together again in person for our well-regarded and respected conferences throughout North America. Our plan is to continue our expansion in 2023!
How Long Does Weed Stay Good?
It's probably happened to you before: you're cleaning out your closet, and in the middle of it, you notice a baggie of flower stashed away in the back of a drawer. It's a pleasant surprise. But will this ancient herb turn into dust if I try to grind it? How long does weed stay good for? Will it work? Is this even weed?
It's probably happened to you before: you're cleaning out your closet, and in the middle of it, you notice a baggie of flower stashed away in the back of a drawer. It's a pleasant surprise. But hold on: the bud is as crisp as a potato chip.
This leads you to ask yourself a bunch of questions. Will this ancient herb turn into dust if I try to grind it? How long does weed stay good for? Will it work? Is this even weed?
How Long Does Weed Stay Fresh?
The good news is that many weed varieties remain in full potency for up to 12 months. That is, if it's properly harvested, dried, cured, and stored under good conditions. Smoking it after that time won't do you any harm. However, your herb won't provide you with the same high as a fresh flower. Why?
Just like any other substance, the chemical components that make up cannabis break down over time. THC is the primary psychoactive weed component. It is responsible for getting you high. When it breaks down, your stash loses its spike. This explains why you can't seem to get high from an old baggie
According to research, marijuana loses about 16 percent of its THC each year, and it just keeps dropping after every year until there's none left.
It loses 26 percent of THC after two years
It loses 34 percent of THC after three years
It loses 41 percent of THC after four years
How Do You Know if Your Weed Is Old?
Weed has a way of showing off its beauty when it's healthy. It also has a way of letting you know when you shouldn't touch it. It can only stand the test of time if the process of growth, harvest, and packaging are handled correctly.
Unfortunately, you don't always have the power to control the quality of weed before it reaches your hands. Therefore, having the ability to recognize old and bad weed is a vital defense mechanism that every stoner should master. After all, you wouldn't want to waste your money on a bag of dried-out or moldy ganja.
Here are some things that you should check to tell if your weed is old or bad.
Smell
Weed that has passed its shelf-life smells different. Its earthy, herbal scent fades away with time and if it's not been treated well. A vibrant aroma of terpenes is an indicator that your weed is worthy of smoking. Any unusual smell should prompt you to put down the herb and reconsider smoking it. It indicates a compromise in quality. If you pick up a damp smell, be careful. It could be a red flag for mold presence. Look out for chemical aromas as well. It's usually a sign of preservatives or improper pesticide use. No smell is also fishy.
Appearance
It's definitely old if you can't tell if it's cannabis. Two things could've happened to old weed- it either took in moisture or dried out. Old and dried-out weed breaks apart into fine powder. It contains fragments of stems and seeds: that's how you can tell if it's weed. You can try to make the best out of it by moistening it with a humidity control pack or a citrus fruit peel. However, dry weed doesn't make for a good smoking experience. It's harsh to the throat.
On the other hand, spongy weed is highly likely to contain molds. In most cases, it's easy to identify molds visually. They assume several appearances. You can differentiate them by looking at where the concentration is. Bud rot mainly grows in the core of a cannabis bud. It spreads like wildfire and shreds your weed into fragments. Don't smoke it if it smells like urine or has a black or white fuzz on it. Moldy weed has serious health repercussions such as lung infections, intense coughing, and sometimes, death.
How It Feels Like
You can always know if weed is old or bad by handling it. Check if it's over-compressed or has any moisture content. Does it break down when you touch it? Pick a bud and check the inside layers. If it feels like it has been squashed under an elephant's foot, it's a no-go. It has probably been stored for too long in tight bags without room to breathe. You can identify all these by making physical contact with your herb.
Taste
If you haven't had time to inspect your stuff, sniff it to decide if it's up to snuff. An avid weed smoker can recognize the smell of good weed, even among an array of other smells. However, it's not advisable to roll up a joint without checking if your marijuana is old or bad. That said, bad weed doesn't smoke well. If your stash is compromised, you'll notice a difference in smell and taste. Sometimes you may just have to dig in to know if your weed is all good.
What Conditions Determine Weed Freshness?
Proper storage is a must if you want your stash to stay longer and maintain its quality. Whether you are keeping it long-term or till the end of the week, where you store your buds plays a major role in preserving its potency and flavor.
Below are a few factors that may influence your weed's freshness at home.
Light
The cannabis flower hates light. While the plant thrives in light during different stages of its growth, UV rays can break down chemical components in the flower after harvesting.
This is why you should never leave your buds out in the sun. You should also make sure that your containers are always kept in the dark. And if you're unable to store your containers in a dark environment, use opaque containers. Under the right conditions, the terpenes and cannabinoids in your buds will remain intact for up to two years.
Humidity
Keeping your marijuana at the proper humidity levels is important to keep it fresh and safe for consumption. High humidity breeds molds and mildew, while low humidity can dry out the herb and degrade its terpenes and cannabinoids.
It's hard to find the right balance when you're storing your stash in an ordinary polythene bag. So you might want to invest in a humidity pack that you can place inside your storage container. To maintain your cannabis's consistency, color, aroma, potency and flavor, the recommendation is to keep it at a relative humidity of 59 percent to 63 percent. Mold usually starts developing at a relative humidity (RH) of 65 percent and above. And your flowers begin to dry up at a relative humidity of below 55 percent.
Temperature
The same way heat can destroy chlorophyll pigments in your vegetables, it can break down the terpenes in your buds, making them dry out. You don't want the temperatures to get too low, either. Excessive cold can slow down decarboxylation (a process that activates cannabis compounds such as THC).
Ideally, you should store your marijuana at temperatures between 32 degrees Fahrenheit and 68 degrees Fahrenheit. This strikes the right balance needed to keep it moist but not too moist and dry enough to retain its potency and springy texture.
Some people store their flowers in the fridge thinking that it's an optimal choice. But it's one of the worst places you could ever think of storing your marijuana in. Condensation can happen inside the refrigerator, creating excess moisture that reduces your plant's quality. Avoid the freezer too. It damages the flower's delicate surface and makes it lose potency and flavor.
Air
When you expose marijuana to too much oxygen, its cannabinoids and terpenes degrade at a higher rate than usual. And when you store it in too little air, it dramatically affects its relative humidity, especially if it hasn't dried up well. Cannabis requires just the right amount of air to stay fresh and in its original form.
What's the Best Way to Store Your Weed?
Keeping your stash in an airtight container protects it from too much air and other environmental factors that work against it. Use containers made out of glass. Glass is airtight and nonporous. It can keep your stash safe for a long time. Mason jars are popular but we recommend upgrading your storage to a stashbox for the best quality. Check out our list of favorites here.
Bottom Line
At this point, we've probably answered all your questions. So the next time you discover a long-forgotten container of weed in your closet, you will be in a better position to tell if it's worth a spliff.
Your stash should stay good for as long as you keep it well. The only problem is that old weed might not give you the same high as fresh weed. Make sure to keep it in an airtight container away from moisture, sunlight, and heat.
Introducing CLEO: The Brand Increasing Access to Quality CBD & Delta-8 Gummies in Places Without Regulated Markets
Introducing CLEO, a CBD and Delta-8 gummy brand with more than one admirable mission. CLEO believes that lab-tested, hemp derived products can be an important part of an everyday wellness routine. CLEO is a company that prioritizes your safety over profits, their products are third party lab tested and available in states where cannabis legalization has stalled like Texas and Minnesota.
CBD and other hemp-derived cannabinoids like Delta-8 seem to be everywhere you look these days, but it also has quickly become a business that isn’t as regulated as some may like. That’s why we were so excited when we heard about CLEO, a CBD and Delta-8 brand with more than one admirable mission. CLEO believes that lab-tested, hemp-derived products can be an important part of an everyday wellness routine and are viable replacements to mainstream THC products typically found in recreationally legal markets. CLEO products are third-party lab-tested and available in states where cannabis legalization has stalled, such as Texas and Minnesota.
Their CBD and Delta-8 Gummies are vegan, gluten free, all-natural and available in three distinct flavor and dosing options. Their flagship line up includes:
The lineup has a variety of psychoactive effects, ranging from a non-intoxicating CBD-only gummy, to a Delta-8 only gummy that offers effects on par with traditional cannabis edibles. Each gummy is thoughtfully and consistently dosed for a relaxing and predictable experience every time. They are available to purchase online at yourfriendcleo.com and they deliver to all U.S. states where edible CBD or Delta-8 are legally permitted.
CLEO was founded by friends and classmates, Andrea Berrios and Spencer Perron, who were brought together by a shared passion for expanding access and ending the stigma around cannabis-based wellness. They explain: “We wanted to create a product line that brings all of the quality and lab-testing of the regulated THC market, while being accessible in states like Texas & Minnesota, where our families and friends live.” and thus, CLEO was born. As a company, they feel that it is important to create access to quality products that showcase the plant’s therapeutic benefits, and provide sufficient education around the plant and hemp-derived products in order to empower consumers to help break the stigma against cannabis as wellness.
With regards to the brand’s name - the founders wanted to choose a name that was approachable and playful, knowing that for many of their customers, CLEO might be their first introduction to cannabis. The name CLEO was chosen because it is the name of Andrea’s cat, Cleo, who emulates these desired characteristics perfectly. They also chose the name because it is easy to pronounce in English and in Spanish. Their website also has a Spanish version, making their vegan and all-natural CBD gummies easily accessible to Spanish speakers. Andrea is a Latinx woman, with deep roots in Nicaragua, and a native Spanish speaker. Making CBD and Delta-8 accessible and inclusive to all is part of the company’s greater mission.
CLEO is also a brand that believes in the power of giving back. With so many POC affected by the war on drugs, it is so important for brands in the CBD and hemp space to acknowledge this and fight for change. CLEO currently gives back 3% of their profits to NuProject, which is working to bring more entrepreneurs of color into cannabis. They have also pledged to find a more direct and sustainable way to improve inclusion in the industry, and support entrepreneurs who have been historically excluded . We love a company dedicated to making the changes they want to see in the world.
I was gifted some of CLEO’s signature Ease CBD gummies and I have to say, I found them to be exceptional in every way. Their gummies are the highest quality CBD products I’ve tried to date, and I’ve tried A LOT of them. As a person who struggles with sleep, I loved that they were relaxing and since they contained 50MG of CBD, I was able to easily split the gummy for smaller dosing. They have a great consistency and flavor and I felt like I really trusted the CLEO CBD gummies because I could so easily look up what’s in them. All of CLEO’s CBD & Delta-8 products are third party lab tested at a DEA-registered laboratory to ensure they meet the strictest potency and consumer safety standards. You can also find your product’s COA below using the Batch Number found next to the QR code on the back of your product.
The flavor of the gummies was nice and balanced and I found them super helpful when taking a tolerance break. They really helped me relax before bedtime, which is something I struggle with. This New True Crime Podcast, Hosted by a Mother & Daughter, Seeks to Find Out What Really Happened to Marsha “Mudd” Ferber
When Marsha “Mudd” Ferber disappeared without a trace 34 years ago from Morgantown, West Virginia authorities could not solve the case even though she was a beloved member of their small town community. “I Was Never There” is a new crime/thriller podcast hosted by mother-daughter duo Karen and Jamie Zelermyer and it is as much a true crime show as it is an ode to Appalachian counterculture movements of the 1970s and 1980s.
In the first episode, we learn how Karen raised her daughter Jamie in a communal community. Karen and others believed that they knew Marsha very well…or at least they thought they did.
Named a 2022 Tribeca Film Festival Audio Selection, “I Was Never There” focuses on those who knew Marsha best and seeks to put together what really happened to this beloved member of a tight knit alternative community who vanished without a trace on the first weekend of April in 1988. Karen and Jamie interview many people who knew Marsha, former and current law enforcement and musicians who were well acquainted with Marsh’s love of social activism, cannabis and other recreational drugs. Marsha owned a bar called The Underground Railroad and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind or fight for what she wanted, even as West Virginia’s residents became more conservative.
As the podcast goes on it delves into the relationship between Jamie’s mother Karen and Marsha. The two became close while living in communal housing together at the hippie homestead that Marsha owned and ran with a group of like minded individuals and their families. Their goal was to live off the land, grow their own food and raise their families in this setting. During this time Marsha worked as a typist who sold weed as a side hustle in order to keep her various businesses and interests afloat.
Marsha ran two bars in town in Morgantown, WV that were known for being the “IT” place for the punk rock scene. The bar/music venue “The Underground Railroad” and the teen alcohol free space “The Dry House” both known as havens for those into alternative music and living. Marsha had a knack for bringing together community and believed in music, magic and marijuana as the podcast’s tagline tells us. The story begins into the time when Karen and Jamie lived in Morgantown where Marsha was a pillar of the WV counter culture unafraid to voice resistance to the war and wanting equality for all. Touring bands knew that The Underground was the place to be seen. The Dead Kennedys, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Flaming Lips (just to name a few) made stops at Marsha’s bar because they knew the music scene was authentic to their audience.
Listeners of the podcast quickly learn there are many more sides to Marsha that not everyone was privy too. As Karen puts it, “She was one of my best friends, but she was way more complicated than I realized”. Jamie and Karen start to reach out to friends and people who knew Marsha before she disappeared to get to the bottom of what exactly happened to Marsha when she went missing all those years ago. Most of the interviewees have their theories which range from her simply going off on the grid on her own accord, to being killed, to being a target of law enforcement or the KKK, to her dealing weed and having something go very wrong.
As mother and daughter venture deeper into the mystery of Marsha’s disappearance, the two process their own history: Jamie reflects on her nontraditional upbringing and Karen reckons with the joyful and complicated consequences of her decisions. The twists and turns in this podcast are many, and I really enjoyed learning more about the counter culture movement of the 70’s and 80’s. They make for a vivid backdrop in the story telling, which is expert level thanks to Jamie’s experience in the TV/Film world. Archival audio recordings and interviews with those who knew Marsha work beautifully here to fill in the gaps and help us find out more about really happened.
So far there are six episodes of the podcast available, with new ones dropping every Thursday. The story starts off slow, but has really built up into an enticing mystery and after episode five titled “Yacht Babes”, I can’t wait to hear what else this mother and daughter team uncover about the unusual circumstances surrounding Marsha’s disappearance. This week’s episode titled “The Magic Veil” explores the cannabis grow that Karen was working on when they were busted by state police. If you are a fan of true crime and mystery podcasts, we highly recommend this one which has more twists than a rotini noodle.

Boston is a beautiful city, overflowing with history and culture. It’s one of the most popular destinations in the northeast for its incredible museums, great restaurants, and abundant activities. It’s also home to some of the best legal weed in the country.
Ever since the Massachusetts Marijuana Legalization Initiative passed in November 2016, legalizing cannabis use for adults 21 and older with retail sales beginning in November 2018, some have called Boston “the cannabis capital of the East Coast.” Massachusetts made history as the first state on the East Coast to legalize recreational cannabis. Medical cannabis is also legal in the state but you have to be a resident to qualify.
There are so many great cannabis brands in Boston that it can be overwhelming to decide when you get to that dispensary counter - or order cannabis delivery (more on that later).
We (High Herstory’s co-founders, Annette and Jenny) decided to travel from NYC to visit a dear friend who lives in Boston and spend the weekend as weed tourists!
After our trip, we put together this guide to make it easy to find the best products at Boston’s wonderful assortment of cannabis dispensaries and give you some ideas on activities and great restaurants to pair with them.
We have personally tested and verified all of these cannabis brands and we promise you, they really stand out in the cannabis space. To be fully transparent with you, this post is sponsored by brands to cover the costs of our work, however, we personally selected each brand based on our genuine appreciation for their products.
Massachusetts honestly has one of the best recreational markets out there! Keep reading for all the details on the best weed, accommodations, activities, and restaurants on your epic, 420-friendly weekend trip to Boston.
Can I buy weed in Boston as a tourist?
Yes, you can buy weed in Boston even if you don’t live in Massachusetts. If you are 21 and older, you can buy weed at recreational dispensaries with a valid driver’s license or ID. You may have up to one ounce of flower and up to five grams of any concentrate outside of your home. Make sure you keep reading to update yourself on the latest cannabis laws!
What Cannabis Products to try in Boston?
If you’re excited to visit Boston and sample cannabis products but you aren’t sure where to start, we’ve got you! The following products really stand out in the Boston cannabis scene…and honestly, they stand out in the cannabis marketplace as a whole. We have been lucky enough to test various weed brands all over the country and these truly are some of our very favorites. You won’t want to miss trying them on your trip.
Betty’s Eddies for delicious; hand-crafted cannabis chews.
Betty’s Eddies are delicious; hand-crafted cannabis chews that are made with organic fruits and veggies. They are Vegan, Gluten-Free, and Dairy-Free as well. Betty’s Eddies was started by a group of friends and acquired by MariMed, a cannabis company focused on precise testing and community building. They are also behind Bubby’s Baked, one of the most delicious brownies on the market! Keep your eye out for MariMed because they are nailing it with all of their products, honestly.
You might be wondering if a chew will stick to your teeth and the answer is no! Betty’s Eddies have a delightful consistency and flavor, with not too much sweetness and a tiny touch of sourness. You have to try them if you’re a fan of taffy, but even if you don’t usually go for chews, we think you’ll be very pleased with these.
The Bedtime Betty’s chew in the Betty’s line-up has a special place in our hearts as one of the best cannabis sleep aids we have ever tried - and this is coming from someone who becomes an insomniac when they travel. One Bedtime Betty and about 30 minutes later, I was out like a light. We’re talking as soon as my head hit the pillow! That honestly never happens when I travel so I made sure to have a bag handy so I could sleep throughout the trip.
Betty’s Eddies also carries an Elderberry Immune Support Chew called “Elderbetty” to help keep you healthy and help you fight off germs while exploring the city. We loved that we could give ourselves a little health boost while we enjoyed the high!
If you’re planning a romantic weekend in Boston, we cannot recommend the Smashin’ Passion chew enough. It has natural aphrodisiacs like horny goat weed and other herbs paired with THC. It’s delicious - it even tastes sexy.
Betty’s Eddies make it easy to control dosing because the chews are individually wrapped in reusable waxed paper. So you can start with half a dose, save the rest and take the total 5mg as needed.
For us, the full dose of 5mg offered an easy-going, delightful state of being. Make sure you wait at least two hours to feel the full effects before taking more but those with high tolerance (you know who you are) might want to take two.
Perfect for: Those looking for an easy-to-transport edible that is delicious, hand-crafted, and tailored to your needs, whether you’re looking for immune support, sleep aid, or sexy times.
Favorite Products:
Bedtime Betty’s made with Agave, Lemon, and Melatonin. Really helped us get some much-needed Z’s while traveling.
“Elderbetty” Immunity Support with Elderberry, Zinc, Vitamins C & D3. The germaphobe of the group was very grateful to have these babies around!
Smashin’ Passion made with Passion Fruit, Horney Goat Weed, Maca Root, Damiana, Muira Puama. Everyone’s favorite flavor is delicious and they really make us feel great if you know what we mean…
Where to get them: Panacea Wellness, Liberty Cannabis, Pure Oasis, Berkshire Roots. For a full list of dispensaries that carry Betty’s Eddies visit their website.
Hi5 Cannabis Infused Seltzers for a cannabis drink in delightful seasonal flavors.
Hi5 is a cannabis seltzer that takes effect in only five minutes. That’s right, by the time it takes you to re-fasten your jumpsuit in the powder room, you will feel the blissful effects of this delightful seltzer.
The seltzer was created using a state-of-the-art nano-emulsification process that creates microscopic particles of THC so it’s easier for your body to absorb and process it. It also dissipates faster too, so you have more control of your body. If you’ve ever felt like a living blob from too many edibles, you definitely will want to try this Hi5 because it metabolizes differently than edibles in your system, giving you a more balanced and stable high.
Even our friend who is a THC “light-weight” ended up loving the way she felt after one can.
Did I mention the taste? We really love that Hi5 is refreshingly crisp without being overly sweet or artificial tasting—it’s all natural. You know that weird tinny flavor in some canned seltzers with booze? Hi5 doesn’t have that. The flavors are all delicious but we really liked the peach-mango, lime, and black cherry!
Hi5 is zero calories, gluten-free, lab-tested, and uses a proprietary infusion process to ensure a consistent shelf-stable product.
If you have ever wanted to cut back on your drinking, but still enjoy a social beverage, this is going to change your life. Truly, being able to drink with friends and not have a hangover the next day is a dream come true.
We even put together a cannabis cocktail recipe (without any booze) using Hi5 that you can try. Check out the full recipe for the Ginger-Lime Hi5 Cannabis Infused Cocktail Here.
Hi5 is zero calories, gluten-free, lab-tested and uses a proprietary infusion process to ensure a consistent shelf-stable product. Make sure you wait at least 30 minutes to feel the full effects. If you’ve never opened a cannabis seltzer can before, you just pop the top and slide it away from you to open.
You’re going to love these so much that next time you’ll order a case as we did.
Perfect for: Anyone who wants more control of their high, those looking for a fast onset, those who want to consume cannabis discreetly, anyone looking for an alcohol substitute, thirsty people.
Favorite Products:
Lime Hi5 - Cannabis Infused Seltzer - we found it works great as a mixer
Black Cherry Hi5 Cannabis Infused Seltzer - delicious
Peach-Mango Hi5 Cannabis Infused Seltzer - our absolute favorite seasonal flavor
Where to get them: Ascend - Boston, Berkshire Roots, Liberty. Visit their website for all dispensary locations where Hi5 is available.

By combining premium custom hardware, exceptional terpenes and high-purity cannabis oil Fernway brings you the best-in-class vape cartridge you deserve.
When we first pulled on their newest flavor, Mandarin Orange, we were blown away by the delicious flavor profile and the quality of the cannabis oil.
Their name is inspired by fernweh – the longing for faraway places. It’s at the heart of why the founders of the company love cannabis.
We loved the portability of Fernway vapes as we explored the beautiful city of Boston. The vapes were discrete and the attention to detail was amazing. From the packaging to the carrying case, to the cannabis oil, this is a product we are very excited to share with you. Recommended Products:
Mandarin Orange - Fernway’s latest addition to their Flavor Line really is like sunshine in a vape, and didn’t make me sleepy or distract me from my tasks. The flavor is amazing and we love that the strain is a sativa! It kept us lifted and energized while making the spring colors pop!
Red Headed Stranger - A strain as mysterious and alluring as its name suggests, this uplifting sativa imparts a spicy flavor reminiscent of orange zest and gas. And it’s the 3rd Place Winner of the High Times Cannabis Cup in Massachusetts.
Where to get them: You can use Fernway’s store locator to find out where Fernway is available.
Kanha Gummies for tasty gummies with flexible dosing.
Kanha has a reputation for being one of the best-tasting edibles on the market, and we can confirm that they are indeed so tasty! The flavor is unbeatable and they are made with the highest-quality cannabis oils available. The lychee flavor, part of their limited edition exotic flavors, tastes like a mix of strawberry and watermelon! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
They are also the only edible in Massachusetts that offers flexible higher dosing. Each gummy is conveniently separated into two 5MG segments per piece with 10 pieces per bag, allowing you to dose to your tolerance.
Kanha Gummies are made with all-natural ingredients, including coloring & flavoring, and they ensure their cannabis oil has zero pesticides. The Nano gummies are fast-acting through utilizing nanomolecular technology to create cannabinoid particles smaller than a wavelength of light, which makes for a quicker onset and 4x higher absorption rate. Kanha Nano mimics your body’s natural digestive process, allowing for a rapid and more complete absorption process and therefore safer and more consistent experience. Science is the best.
The average onset is around 15 minutes, which is perfect to enjoy at breakfast before you go exploring. These gummies are meant for action! We felt a euphoric rush as we set out on an urban hike. A Kanha gummy gave us the perfect amount of energy to spend all day on our feet
You can’t go wrong with any of the flavors, but we found the Kanha Passionfruit Paradise to be especially scrumptious, and its Indica terpenes great for relaxing. We also loved the belts which are thin strips of sour gummies that are 50mg of THC each, and are easy to separate into 5mg segments to customize your dosing!
Perfect for: Those who are experienced with higher doses of cannabis.
Kanha hybrid and sativa gummies are ideal to enjoy biking, sailing, or kayaking while taking in the beautiful scenery of Boston's harbor and coastline or enjoying a big day out in the city.

1906 for precision edibles to boost every area of your life.
1906, named for the last time cannabis was widely accepted as a beneficial medicine, is one of our favorite brands. We love that their name reflects the time period before the Wiley Act went into effect the following year, beginning a century of cannabis prohibition and that they pay homage to this history in the work their brand does as well as the name. They are partners with the Cannabis Voter Project and many other important organizations that benefit communities and help correct some of the damage done by the war on drugs.
You can’t help but notice 1906’s bright packaging, but this brand is so much more than only a beautiful aesthetic. Inside 1906’s convenient and colorful tins, is one of the most perfect products to ever grace the cannabis space - 1906 Drops.
1906 Drops are precision edibles in the form of discreet, swallowable pills. They combine moderately dosed cannabis with medicinal plants to help you boost every area of your life and always feel in control. The Drops are vegan and completely free of gluten, dairy, sugar, calories, and allergens.
The rapid onset takes place in 20 minutes or less, in an intentionally low dose experience that is highly functional. They use a 1:1 ratio of CBD and THC (other than the Chill formula which is a 5:1 ratio).
Each container holds 20-30 plant-based pills. We tried the following kinds:
Go for Energy. Great for an active day, cleaning superpowers, as a substitute for another expresso (has one cup of coffee!).
Genius for Brainpower. Perfect for focus. Visiting museums. Escape rooms. (A third a cup of coffee)
Chill for Relaxation. Perfect for relaxing after a long day out. Substituting for a nightcap. Soothing your tired muscles.
Love for Arousal. Perfect for boosting arousal (for all genders), romantic weekends, and taking yourself on a date. Or just listening to music.
Remember, swallow - do not chew!
Perfect for: Everyone who wants to control their high with micro doses. Those looking for experience specific edibles without added sugars and flavors, and those who are new to ingesting cannabis. Para for the coolest weed accessories, curated by a Boston-native/former buyer at Saks.
When Boston-native Mariam Saïd started Para it was out of sheer fashion girl necessity. Mariam was new to consuming cannabis and she was interested in finding the perfect accouterments for her seshes. Seafood at Saltie Girl
Some of the best clam chowder (and c’mon, you have to have New England clam chowder when in Boston) and seafood you can find. An amazing raw bar, fried whole belly Ipswich clams and lobster rolls by the ounce are on the menu. Located in the beautiful Back Bay, Saltie Girl definitely stands out in the area. Definitely make a reservation as it fills up fast!
Saltie Girl is located at 279 Dartmouth St. Boston, MA 02116 in the Back Bay.
“High” Tea at the Courtyard Tea Room at the Boston Public Library
Serving an elegant classic tea with a twist of New England culinary favorites, the Courtyard is the premier destination for afternoon tea in the city. We loved the finely crafted tea sandwiches, sweets, and scones in a historic and architectural marvel of the Boston Public Library. You cannot go wrong with this high tea.

Boston’s High-End Cannabis Dinner Series Eat Sacrilicious
While we didn’t get a chance to experience one of Sacrilicious’s infused dinner series events, we absolutely love the concept! If you’re not lucky enough to be in town for one of their 5-7 course meals, don’t fret. You can hire them to cook at your own private event. While they do not provide a venue, they have contacts in the city with available locations. They also provide cannabis cooking classes so you can be your own chef!
Check out their event calendar.
Flour Bakery and Cafe
Our friend who is a local suggested we stop by Flour Bakery for some breakfast sandwiches and pastries because apparently “it’s a thing” in Boston. We weren’t expecting much from a little take-away cafe, but everything kind of blew us away. And it wasn’t just because we’d partaken a couple puffs from a Pioneer Valley Cannabis Company infused joint either. The moist scones, buttery breakfast pastries, grand homemade cookies, luscious pies, gorgeous cakes, and sandwiches, soups, salads, and grain bowls are all excellent. The staff is also super friendly! You won’t be disappointed if you pop into any of their many locations throughout Boston!
What to do in Boston?
Boston is one of the most historic cities in America that you can explore by visiting various museums, historical sites, and other attractions. The city has been nicknamed "The Athens of America" for its intellectual culture and love for higher education.
Boston is the birthplace of sports like basketball, hockey, and football. It also has a rich history that includes the Boston Tea Party and the Boston Massacre.
Museums in Boston are not limited to just one area of interest. There are museums dedicated to science, art, history, military affairs, maritime affairs - you name it! Some of the most popular museums in Boston are the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA), Museum of Science (MOS), Harvard Art Museums (HAM), and Fenway Park. The city also has its fair share of historical sites like Paul Revere House and USS Constitution Museum which are both open for tours.
However, a few museums really stand out in your opinion due to their unique perspectives:
The Core Social Justice Cannabis Museum in Boston aims to provide a platform for multiple perspectives relating to the war on drugs. Decades of unsupported policies and the enforcement of the laws born of those policies have and continue to facilitate government overreach as well as create undue hardship in low-income and minority communities. Core has curated exhibits related to the defective system of cannabis law in the United States that urge people to look back at events and influences that sculpted our relationship with cannabis, as well as recognize and memorialize the inequitable events leading up to the multi-billion dollar industry that is cannabis today.
Core is a free museum located inside of Seed, a Recreational Cannabis Dispensary in Boston.
Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
You know we wouldn’t get through this guide without mentioning some herstory right? This stunning museum, modeled after a 15th-century Venetian palace, was built in 1898–1901 by Isabella Stewart Gardner, an American art collector, philanthropist, and patron of the arts.
Gardner began collecting seriously after she received a large inheritance from her father in 1891. After her husband’s death, Isabella realized their shared dream of building a suitable space to exhibit their treasures. She purchased land in the marshy Fenway area of Boston where at the time there were few other buildings in the area. She instructed her architect to build Fenway Court modeled on the Renaissance palaces of Venice. Gardner was deeply involved in every aspect of the design, leading the architect to quip that he was merely the structural engineer making Gardner's design possible. After the construction of the building was complete, Gardner spent a year installing her collection in a way that evokes intimate responses to the art, mixing paintings, furniture, textiles, and objects from different cultures and periods among well-known European paintings and sculptures.
The museum houses important works of European, Asian, and American art that include paintings, sculptures, tapestries, and decorative arts.
In case you didn’t see the Netflix series about it, in 1990, thirteen of the museum's works were stolen. The crime remains unsolved, and the works, valued at an estimated $500 million, have not been recovered. A $10 million reward for information leading to the art's recovery remains in place, so let us know if you solve it while you visit!

Boston Public Garden
The Public Garden was the first public botanical garden in America. The Victorians ushered in the style of park which featured the gardener’s art. They designed vibrant floral patterns in the Garden which utilized new techniques of collecting, hybridizing, and propagating plants. With access to showy annuals and greenhouse-grown plants they bedded the Garden with colorful displays and planted exotic imported trees. In the early days, some complained that the unnatural combinations of colorful plants were garish beyond the bounds of good taste. Now Boston calls the Public Garden one of its greatest attractions.

Before buying or consuming cannabis anywhere you visit, it’s always important to brush up on the local laws surrounding cannabis.
Adults 21 years and older may legally possess & use marijuana, but you can only consume cannabis in the comfort of a home or cannabis-friendly Airbnb. You also can’t smoke cannabis in a hotel. Under the law, you can't have an open container of marijuana or marijuana products in your motor vehicle. Violations can carry a civil penalty of up to $500.
"Open container" means a package of marijuana or marijuana products with a broken seal, or with some of the contents removed. You must keep an open container in a locked glove compartment or trunk. Also keep in mind that under state law, you can't consume marijuana of any kind in any public place. Violations can carry a civil penalty of up to $100. This new moon in Cancer is the perfect time to reflect on your relationships with yourself and others. It is a divinely feminine one and asks us to receive and interpret, rather than do or plan. What Do Moon Rituals Do?
If you're reading this, you know that you are the Creator of your own reality. You're intuitive and empathic AF and you know that you have the power to work with the Moon's monthly cycles to co-create the life your future self deserves using moon rituals.
In fact, I'm like 99.3% sure that you drew me and this New Moon Guide into your vortex. Meaning, your energy is aligning with information to help you manifest your intentions this year!
What is a New Moon?
A New Moon is the beginning of the lunar cycle and it's the most cosmically appropriate time to rest, reflect and set intentions for what you would like to manifest. I like to frame New Moon Manifestation Rituals for my clients as an opportunity to perform sacred activities that allow your inner desires to become outer realities.
New moon rituals are an ancient tradition that many people still practice today. They are meant to be a way for us to start anew, in order to get rid of any negative energy that we might have been accumulating before the new moon.
How Do You Manifest New Moon Intentions?
It’s important to visualize and connect with the energy of your intentions during your ritual. Journaling is one of the best ways to work with the energy of the new moon because the moon rules our subconscious inner world. Taking time and space to reflect allows you to integrate the inner wisdom you need to operate as your highest self. Visualization and getting clear on exactly what you want is also incredibly powerful during this time.
Here’s a New Moon Ritual You Can Use to Manifest Your Goals
1. How Manifest your Dream Future…
Step 1: Start by Creating a Sacred Space. Cleanse + Clear. Get Still. Connect to your Breath. Start a high frequency vibe playlist like this one from DJ .Moonflower.
Step 2: Write down all of your Long-Term Goals. Read them to yourself a few times and make sure each Goal Resonates.
Step 3: Then visualize each goal in your 3rd Eye as if it's happening now for about 1 minute. Fill in The Who, What, + Where, Etc... Feel it happening in your bones. Imagine a bright white light enveloping your spirit + physical body as you float amongst the cosmic dust.
2. Make time to Create a 2022 Monthly Career Plan
On this Cancer New Moon, make time and space to focus on how you have been treating yourself and how your interpersonal relationships affect your life.
We spend so much time focusing on what we can see. But I challenge us all to begin focusing on what we cannot see. Only feel. And to do this successfully, we must learn to trust ourselves in service of our evolution on a soul level.
Bring this into your mind’s eye and see how what you project out into the world has affected what you are bringing into your life.
3. Use a Mantra
… When I make time and space to visualize my ideal relationships, the universe helps to guide me.
If you or someone you know would be interested in learning about what will come up this year, send an email to me at imanthealchemist@gmail.com to book a session with me.

This Aries New Moon will be particularly important as it will help you to take action and make changes in your life.
Conclusion: The best time of year for starting something fresh or creating something amazing has arrived!

What is a Solar Eclipse?
During an Eclipse, the light of the sun is temporarily blocked by the Moon so it is best to go within until the light returns. Back when Times were Ancient our ancestors were worried about Eclipses because the Celestial Lights went out for a moment. Eclipses are intense bc they are connected to the nodes of fate. It’s the universe's time to course correct our trajectories. Do your best to align with this energy rather than fight it.
How Long Does the New Moon Last?
You have three days after the full moon to do your ritual. I recommend starting at least eight hours after the New Moon placement occurs.
Do You Need Help Creating a New Moon Ritual?
A New Moon Ritual is as unique and specific as the person doing the ritual. I’m here to help you curate a tailored ritual to manifest all of your intentions this year!
